Console’s flexible branch functionality allows you to differentiate which content is displayed on the Learning Hub’s Browse page.  Limit the content displayed to learners within a specific branch and allow learners to self-enroll into their branch’s tailored plan directly from their customized Browse Page

A learning organization employing a direct-to-consumer model may seek to make much or all of its content discoverable for consumer customers on the Browse page.  The same learning organization may seek to limit the content discoverable on Browse to each of its enterprise customers' end users in accordance with licensing terms.  This configuration option allows for flexibility in precision configuration of content displayed to learners.

The configuration is dependent upon the following requirements:

  • Utilization of Learning Hub (Enable General Access to Learning Hub feature access is ON
  • The Browse Page is turned on at a specific Branch Level (Enable Browse Page in Learning Hub Feature access is ON). More about these feature accesses can be found here.

Additional configurations are achievable by the following settings:

  • Learning Hub Display checkbox - This option is available during the Branch Plan creation step, editable once a plan has been created.
  • Apply Tenant Level Browse Configuration to Branch Members in Learning Hub Branch Level feature access - Controllable at a Branch Level, defaulted to ON. More details below.

The Branch level feature access, Apply Tenant Level Browse Configuration to Branch Members in Learning Hub, determines which content group displays for learners within a Branch on the Browse Page.

  • If  “ON”
    • All content configured to be visible on the Learning Hub Browse page within the Tenant will display on Browse for members of a Branch. Learn more about Tenant level Configuration here.
    • The “Learning Hub Display'' checkbox at a Branch Plan level is not taken into consideration if this feature is on, as the tenant level configuration will apply here.  All content configured to be visible on the Learning Hub Browse page will be displayed within the Browse Plan page regardless of it being checked or unchecked, as the feature access supersedes the configuration checkbox.
  • If “OFF”
    • ONLY courses courses associated with a Branch Plan will display on Browse page for Branch Members, and if:
      • “Learning Hub Display” is checked for that Branch Plan
        • If “Learning Hub Display” is NOT checked for a Branch Plan, no content will be displayed on the Browse page. Learners can still be added to the Branch Plan, but effectively, they cannot utilize the Browse page to enroll into the Branch Plan.
      • The Plan is valid

Let’s explore a few configuration examples of Branch 1 below.

Scenario 1

  • Courses will be displayed on the Learning Hub Browse page based on that course's own Tenant level Learning Hub configuration.
  • Plan A’s Learning Hub checkbox is not relevant because “Apply Tenant Level Browse Configuration to Branch Members in Learning Hub” is ON
  • Content E and F will not be available on Browse because of their Tenant Level configuration

Scenario 2

  • Tenant Level Browse configuration is not applied
  • Branch Members will see content A, B, C, E and F
  • Content D will not be available on Browse page because Branch Plan B Display on Learning Hub checkbox is not selected

Helpful Tips

When configuring Branch level content for Learning Hub’s Browse page review the following tips:

  • Check that General Access to Learning Hub feature access is ON at the tenant level.
  • Check that Enable Browse Page in Learning Hub Feature access is ON for the specific Branch.

  • If the Branch has any Branch Plans, review their Display on Learning Hub checkbox field and adjust accordingly to either expose or restrict availability of affected content packages on the Browse page.
