Intro to Recognitions

BenchPrep’s Recognitions feature allows you to provide learners credits and badges upon completing content within the course. Credits are used for maintaining a professional license (e.g. a nurse needs to complete a certain number of continuing education hours in order to maintain their nursing license). Badges are used to showcase that a training has been completed or proficiency in a skill has been obtained. These can be shared online, such as with employers who may require their employees to complete a certain course. In our Recognitions feature, we currently only support badges from Credly, a digital credential platform, which you will be able to integrate our platform with. Recognitions are available for both BenchPrep and Asset-Based courses.

Courses containing recognitions are displayed in the Learning Hub. On the course’s details page, there will be a Recognitions tab showcasing each individual recognition that can be earned from this course.

To earn a Recognition, learners must complete the required criteria, configured in BluePrint, in their course. This can include:

  • Completing a milestone (BenchPrep course only)
  • Completing/passing a test (BenchPrep course only)
  • Completing a certain percentage of their course (BenchPrep and Asset-Based courses)

Courses can have multiple recognitions setup with different criteria, so learners can receive any number of badges and credits from their course if needed.

Benefits of Using Recognitions with BenchPrep

  • Automated recognition issuance: With BenchPrep Recognitions, learners instantly receive digital badges and certificates upon meeting predefined criteria. This automation not only cuts down on administrative work but also ensures timely recognition of achievements.
  • Enhanced learner experience: Learners can easily access and manage their recognitions within the Learning Hub. This visibility helps them track their progress and enhances their professional profiles by showcasing their earned badges and certificates.
  • Marketability and credibility: Offering recognized credentials like digital badges and certificates makes your programs more attractive and credible. This not only motivates learners to engage and complete courses but also enhances the value of your educational offerings.
  • Support for Continuing Education: For organizations focused on continuing education, this feature simplifies awarding credits, making it easier to maintain certifications and licenses. It supports various professional development needs and encourages ongoing learning. Recognitions aren't just for CE, though; there are many ways you can utilize recognitions for your test prep programs, adding value and motivation for learners.

Set Up Process

Setting up recognitions is a few-step process that involves Console and BluePrint applications. The process involves:

  1. Enable the Recognitions feature access at the tenant-level via Console (info on managing tenant-wide features can be found here)
  2. Setup Recognition Types in Console
    1. Credit units
    2. Credly badges (if applicable) - ensure badges you’d like to use are configured in Credly
  3. Create, configure, and publish a course with Recognitions
  4. Create webhook(s) for Recognition Issuance
  5. Create an integration with Credly (if applicable)
  6. Configure your course to show Recognitions in Learning Hub

Key Considerations

Before setting up your recognitions, review the following considerations:

  • This is best utilized by customers who have a third party platform/system to send this information to.
  • Recognitions cannot be created in BluePrint until a Recognition Type has been created in Console.
  • Recognitions are not available for existing, published courses.
  • Once the Utilize Recognition Issuance checkbox has been checked, it cannot be undone. It can however be checked after course creation if the course is still in conversion.

Along with these considerations, we strongly recommend having all of your course content ready before setting up any recognitions. Once recognitions are in place and your course is live to learners, there is the potential for data discrepancies to occur if content changes are later made. These discrepancies can occur when additional content is added, tests are altered, recognitions are changed, or new recognitions are introduced after parts of the course have been completed. Such changes can result in learners showing they have earned recognitions they no longer qualify for, recognitions that no longer exist, or not earning new recognitions they should have. For example, if learners have earned a recognition by completing a certain percentage of your course and then new content is added, they may no longer meet the necessary completion criteria but their recognition will not be revoked. Therefore, we do not recommend making structural or performance-related changes in a course with recognitions once it is live. If you intend to make changes, be aware of how it may affect your learners.
