Data Collected From Assets

When creating or editing assets, you have the option to select which data points will be exposed to the learner. The exact data points available depend on the asset type:

SCORM, xAPI, AICC, cmi5: State, % Correct, Status, Date Completed

  • State is whether or not the learner has completed the asset.
  • % Correct is the cumulative "grade" the learner received on any assessments in the asset.
  • Status is whether or not the learner "passed" the asset.
  • Date Completed is the date the learner finished this asset.

Note that the asset must be configured to send these data points back to BenchPrep (the LMS, in this case)--you can set this up in your content authoring tool (Rise, Storyline, etc.). If you ask to display the "% Correct" data point, but the asset does not have any assessment content (such as practice questions), this data point will not populate.

LTI 1.1: % Correct

LTI 1.3: N/A

The above data points are only those available during the initial upload. Configuring data collection for LTI assets is a slightly different process. After the initial upload, BluePrint generates configuration data that you will enter in your LTI system. Once this step is complete, you can manage completion criteria from the particular asset’s view page in BluePrint.

PDF, Video and Audio: Completion Status, Total Time, Percentage Complete

  • Completion Status is whether or not the learner has completed the asset. For PDFs, the learner must spend at least 5 seconds per page on 95% of pages in the PDF to complete it. For videos and audio, the learner must open the file and play 95% of it. These criteria can be adjusted within BluePrint.
  • Total Time is the time spent in the file. For PDFs, this is time spent viewing the pages; for audio/videos, it is time spent playing the file.
  • Percentage Complete is how much of the asset has been completed (as defined in the above "Completion Status" bullet point).

URL: Completion Status, Date Completed

  • For URL assets, BenchPrep will mark these assets as "complete" as soon as the learner accesses the URL.

Please note that the BenchPrep platform does not track or store:

  • Time spent within an asset (with the exception of PDFs, audio, and video files).
  • How many times a learner has accessed an asset.
