5. Testing a Webhook

To test an existing webhook, follow these steps:

  1. In the Settings section of Console, select Webhooks.
  2. Select the webhook you would like to test. Note that you can test both enabled and disabled webhooks.
  3. Select the Test Delivery button.
  4. A pop-up window will appear to have you confirm that you want to test this webhook. Select the Continue button.
  5. A banner will appear to confirm that the test is beginning. To track the test’s progress, select the Delivery Log tab. You may need to select the Refresh Log button if you do not see any deliveries immediately.
  6. If the delivery was successful, the status will be “200” and shown in green. If the delivery was unsuccessful, the destination endpoint will return a specific status code, shown in red, depending on the reason the delivery failed. A basic guide to these status codes and their meaning is available here. For unsuccessful deliveries, you can select “Try Resend” to re-attempt the delivery, or select the Event ID to view more information about this test. Note that test deliveries use example data, which you can view here

Note: Managing Webhooks is done via Console, check out Who Can Set up Webhooks? to learn more.
