Managing BluePrint Users

BenchPrep offers you many ways to grant or restrict content accessibility to different members of your team. In this article, we'll discuss their differences and show you how to assign them.

The Four BluePrint Roles

Within BluePrint, you can assign three roles to users. Additionally, you can assign one BluePrint Admin role through Console (for more information on the BluePrint Admin role, click here.

 

What's the difference between them, and who should use which role? Use this chart to find your answer:

 

Role Name Permissions Ideal User
BluePrint Admin
  • Holistic access to all content across all courses.
  • To read more about this role, click here.
Someone who will manage and/or maintain content across all courses.
Owner
  • Access to all content within the specific course.
  • Ability to assign/remove other users from the specific course.
  • Ability to edit course-level CSS for the specific course.
The manager assigned to the course, who will update content and/or manage individuals working on the course.
Collaborator
  • Access to all content within the specific course.
  • Unable to add or remove other users' access.
  • Ability to edit course-level CSS for the specific course.
Any assigned to the course who will update content only.
Content Reviewer
  • Access to all content within the specific course - cannot edit
  • Can view the course in the Learning Platform, and can add and respond to feedback.
A content reviewer or quality controller who does not need editable access in BluePrint.

Assigning a Role in BluePrint

  1. Navigate to the desired course in BluePrint

  2. Click the > icon next to Course Details on the left-hand navigation Menu
  3. Next, select Course Access on the left-hand navigation Menu
  4. On the Course Access Page you can now invite a new collaborator by entering their email and then selecting their role. The new collaborator will get an email notification once you add them. 

 

Removing a Role in BluePrint

Users with BluePrint Admin or Owner role can remove other users from a specific course. To do so, follow the steps below:
 

  1. Navigate to the desired course in BluePrint

  2. Click the > icon next to Course Details on the left-hand navigation Menu
  3. Next, select Course Access on the left-hand navigation Menu
  4. On the Course Access page, click the X beside the user whose access you want to revoke.
  5. A confirmation message will appear, indicating that the access has been removed.
