Learning Paths FAQs

  • Can I add a new course to a Learning Path that I’ve already created?
If the Learning Path is published, you won’t be able to add or delete courses. However, if it’s not yet published, then yes, you’ll be able to add the new course and reorder the structure of your courses.

  • If a learner has already completed a course and is enrolled in a Learning Path that includes the same course, will they need to take it again?
No, the course will be marked as complete in their Learning Path. When a learner is enrolled in a Learning Path, new enrollments are not created for courses they already have access to. So their learning path will take into account the current progress of their courses.

  • Can I add an event to a Learning Path?
No, events currently cannot be added. Given their temporal nature, incorporating events could lead to gaps in learners’ progress if they miss the scheduled event.

  • How do Asset-Based courses work with Learning Paths?
They work the same as they do outside of Learning Paths with one exception: If the asset-based course is locked within a Learning Path, so is the content that comprises it. Single assets (Resources) placed in a Learning Path will automatically be marked as electives. If the resources should be required, they will need to be put in an asset-based course.

  • Can I sell a Learning Path?
Yes, you can make Learning Paths for purchase, and there are several ways you can go about this:

    • 1. Learners must purchase the Learning Path (e.g. through an external link, voucher, etc.), but the courses and resources included within the Learning Path are all free. So once learners purchase the Learning Path, they will also have access to all of the included content.
    • 2. The Learning Path is free, but each individual course must be purchased. If the Learning Path is fixed, learners can purchase courses once they unlock them. If the Learning Path is suggested, any of the courses can be purchased at any time.
    • 3. Similar to the above, the Learning Path is free, but only some courses must be purchased while others are free.
    • 4. Learners must purchase the Learning Path and also each individual course that is included (we do not recommend this method).

Ultimately, enrolling in a Learning Path (paid or free) grants learners access to the path, but it does not automatically enroll them in the included courses unless those courses are part of the same Plan/Branch Plan as the Learning Path.

  • What happens if I retire or deactivate a course included in a Learning Path?
If a course is retired, learners already enrolled will still have access, but new learners will not be able to enroll in the course. If a course is deactivated, all learners will lose access to the course and will be unable to complete it in their Learning Path. Therefore, we recommend making sure that there are no active learners enrolled in your Learning Paths that include the course before retiring or deactivating it.
