BenchPrep's Premium Content functionality enables the creation of layered learner experiences such as limited course trials or in-course purchases of additional content, allowing you to seamlessly upsell content at a more granular level.
Learners will be able to easily identify locked content and follow a purchase flow to access it. After the unlock criteria (aka completing a purchase) has been met, premium content will be unlocked and available for their immediate use!
Considerations
Before setting up Premium Content in your courses, please make sure to consider the following:
- Premium Content can be implemented in a new course OR for existing courses that have content you’d like to lock.
- Content types that can be configured as premium content include:
- Lessons
- Flashcard Categories
- Question Categories
- Tests
- External Assets
- Events
- Premium Content is best utilized by customers with an established SSO integration (SAML or OIDC) or those that use GraphQL. This allows you to have an automated process in place to unlock Premium Content for learners once they have met the unlock criteria. Access to Premium Content can also be granted to learners within Console, however, this is a manual process and must be done for each individual user.
- If you have an SSO integration, ensure you have technical resources available to work with BenchPrep to update and test the SSO integration.
- Testing the Premium Content experience with SSO integration is highly recommended.
- Plan for training support teams on the Premium Content experience within the Learning Platform and any external systems used in conjunction with the Premium Content experience.
- Once Premium Content is unlocked, it will be available to learners until their course expires and cannot be set to expire on its own from the Learning Platform. If a learner renews/repurchases the same course, they will have access to the Premium Content they previously purchased. However, if you have an SSO integration, you may be able to restrict access for learners after a certain amount of time.
Set Up Process
Setting up Premium Content involves our Console and BluePrint applications:
- Make sure the Content Locking feature access is enabled at the tenant, course, and branch/institution level, and the Premium Content feature access is enabled at the course-level via Console.
- Create custom modals that your learners and admins will see for your Premium Content from Console.
- Configure what items should be set up as Premium Content for your course in BluePrint, and publish changes to your course.
- Learners enrolled in your course will now be able to unlock Premium Content.
